The Boston Congress of Public Health (BCPH) Academy invites you to register for its inaugural course:

About the Course
Implementing public health initiatives that improve social justice and health equity begins with effective communication. Yet what works in academic writing often doesn’t translate to real life. As a health professional, you often have just one second to connect with your audience, whether an elected official deciding to support potentially life-saving policy, or a patient contemplating their next cancer screening.

You can learn to effectively communicate your ideas with the right skills.

In this 2-hour session, communications instructor Matt Kazam will teach you how to leverage the science of humor, which draws from the disciplines of narrative medicine, storytelling, and empathetic engagement, to quickly and effectively create and tailor powerful messages for any audience. Participants will emerge with a roadmap that empowers them to maximize engagement, both in person and online – especially during times of stress!

Note: Registration is $89.00. (This price represents a discount from the course cost of $200 per person.) Everyone who signs up for the course receives lifetime access to the recording and training collateral.

Learning Outcomes
  1. Define the science of humor and its importance in communications and public health messaging for social justice and change
  2. Describe how to best engage audiences in person and in real life using the science of humor
  3. Delineate three ways the science of humor can help users shape and reshape messages in diverse public health settings
