The Stetson Law Review is seeking proposals for its Spring 2027 Colloquium on the intersection of criminal law and artificial intelligence.
The Colloquium will be held on Friday, February 5, 2027, at Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida. Selected authors will participate on a panel at the Colloquium, and their essays will be published in the Stetson Law Review Online Forum during the 2027–2028 academic year.
We are seeking timely, innovative, and practical essays that explore emerging issues involving criminal law and artificial intelligence. Topics may include, but are not limited to:
- Artificial intelligence in criminal investigations and prosecutions;
- AI-generated evidence;
- Predictive policing;
- Algorithmic bias in the criminal justice system;
- AI and sentencing;
- Ethical issues surrounding attorneys' use of AI;
- Deepfakes and synthetic media;
- Privacy and surveillance;
- Emerging legislation and regulation; and
- Other novel issues at the intersection of criminal law and artificial intelligence.
Important Dates:
- Proposal Deadline: August 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. EST.
- Notification of Acceptance: Approximately two weeks after the submission deadline.
- Colloquium: Friday, February 5, 2027.
- Publication: Essays will be published in the Stetson Law Review Online Forum during the 2027–2028 academic year.
The Stetson Law Review welcomes proposals from scholars, academics, practitioners, judges, policymakers, and others with expertise or interest in this evolving area of law.
Authors should submit a 250-word abstract or synopsis describing their proposed essay. Full manuscripts are not required at this stage.
Selected essays should be approximately 5,000 words in length. All submissions should be sent via email to SLRForum@law.stetson.edu by August 17, 2026, at 10 a.m. EST.
