The Supreme Court’s recent decision in NCAA v. Alston initiated a major shift in the way collegiate sports operate in the United States legal system.  But there are many issues that have not been resolved for student athletes and the institutions for which they compete.  These issues must be addressed now in order to ensure the fairness of collegiate competition and some measure of protection and just compensation for student athletes.

The University of Memphis Law Review, in planning its Spring 2023 Symposium, seeks papers and presenters exploring proposals that would resolve one or more of the remaining legal issues surrounding frameworks for collegiate sports gambling.  Papers will be edited and published in Volume 53, Book 4 of The University of Memphis Law Review, and authors will be invited to present at our hybrid in-person and digital Symposium in March of 2023.

If you are interested in participating, please submit a manuscript or abstract to Symposium Editor Alex Daichman at memphislawarticles@gmail.com with “Collegiate Sports” in the subject line. The deadline for submitting a manuscript or abstract is October 1, 2022.
