CURRENTS: Journal of International Economic Law (CURRENTS: JIEL) invites scholars, practitioners, and researchers to submit their manuscripts for Volume 27, Issue 2, and Volume 28, Issue 1.
Founded in 1991, CURRENTS: JIEL is part of the Institute for International Legal Practice at South Texas College of Law Houston. CURRENTS: JIEL aims to provide a thorough review of the timeliest and pressing issues in international economic law. At this time of great disruption in international trade and the technological change from AI, CURRENTS: JIEL is looking for authors seeking to explain what should and forecast what may happen in this field. Contributions would be welcome on the issues mentioned above and also WTO reform, digital trade and security, geoeconomics and geopolitical supply shocks, the race for critical minerals and its impacts.
CURRENTS: JIEL encourages submission of original and thoughtfully argued pieces of varying length, and is especially interested in shorter essays this cycle. The journal gives priority to submissions between 6,000–15,000 words, including footnotes.
Once accepted, each article goes through a rigorous editorial process of sentence structure, grammar review, formatting, and citation verification, and, for Volume 28.1, will be published no later than June 2027.
