The University of Idaho College of Law’s Idaho Law Review announces a Call of Submissions for its annual symposium. Selected papers presented at the symposium will be published in the Idaho Law Review’s upcoming symposium edition in late 2027.

This year, the Idaho Law Review symposium, titled Fire, Water, and the Future: Law and Stewardship in the Changing Landscape of the West, will focus on the evolving framework of natural resources law in a time of significant legal change and political uncertainty within Idaho and Western lands, with emphasis on tribal co-stewardship, fire and forest management, and the tension between hydropower and the protection of anadromous fish.

Additionally, the symposium will discuss the importance of cooperative governance between state, local, and federal governments, in addition to Tribal nations, while expressing the value of stewardship and co-stewardship of Idaho’s lands and resources, encouraging laws and policies that emphasizes the importance of resilience, ecological integrity, and a sustained connection between communities and the natural world.

The Idaho Law Review welcomes paper proposals on topics featuring the intersection of cooperative governance, co-stewardship, and the current and future state of Western lands.

The symposium will take place in Moscow, Idaho, on Friday, April 2, 2027, and will be streamed for remote attendees. Funding for travel and lodging will be available for accepted authors.
