Dear Authors,
The Michigan Journal of Race and Law (MJRL) is now accepting submissions for our Volume 32 through August 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. MJRL is a student-edited law journal devoted to scholarship focused on the exploration of issues relating to race and law.
We are seeking original scholarship that examines the evolving relationship between race and law. We welcome articles addressing cutting-edge issues, including: Civil Rights, Immigration, Birthright Citizenship, Criminal Justice, Critical Race Theory, and other innovative topics at the forefront of legal and technological change.
Submissions are accepted through Scholastica and reviewed on a rolling basis until all publication slots are filled. We encourage authors to submit early for full consideration.
Submission Guidelines
Format: Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word format with margins of at least one inch on all sides.
Length: The Journal publishes works of varying lengths.
Style: Submissions should present timely, original, and substantive legal analysis rather than merely summarizing existing scholarship. Citations and additional explanatory material should appear in footnotes.
Citations: Citations should conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation, 22nd Edition.
Author Information: Please include a cover page containing the manuscript’s title, the author’s full name, academic or professional affiliation, abstract, and complete contact information. Authors should also include a current curriculum vitae or résumé with their submission.
Authors must disclose at the time of submission whether any portion of the manuscript has been published previously or is currently under consideration elsewhere.
Deadline: Please submit manuscripts by August 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and authors are encouraged to submit their manuscripts as early as possible.
