Issue 54.2 will focus on the First Amendment in contemporary America, examining protest and assembly rights, policing and government retaliation against speech, press freedoms and legal observer protections, and the expansion of religious rights, themes drawn from this year's Cooper-Walsh Colloquium, "Protest, Press, and the Pews: First Amendment Rights in Contemporary America."
The Journal is particularly interested in work that combines doctrinal, empirical, or policy-oriented analysis with concrete insights for domestic reform. Volume 54.2 is scheduled for publication in November 2026. We wish to explore the topic from a variety of perspectives. We will accept proposals and outlines on this topic.
Deadline Draft Due: September 30, 2026
We are seeking both essays over 5,000 words and articles over 10,000 words, and will review proposals and outlines on a rolling basis.
