We are excited to announce a new journal focused on the methods used by participatory and community-engaged researchers!  The methods and practices involved in this type of research are quite specialized and there is often not enough room to fully discuss the processes and activities of participatory research in a traditional journal article. The Journal of Participatory Research Methods will give participatory researchers an outlet for explaining and sharing those practices and for learning from others who are doing community-engaged work.

We anticipate our inaugural issue to be published in the Spring of 2020.  To get the ball rolling, we are accepting letters of intent from interested authors by August 15, 2019.  LOIs should be one single-spaced page and include:

• a title,
• authors and affiliations,
• description of proposed manuscript including a description of the method or   process and context of the participatory research,
• which category of manuscript you are submitting- full-length (up to 8,000 words), brief report (2000 words), tutorial (picture or video step-by-by guide to a method), position piece or book review.  More info on the categories is available on the About tab of the JPRM page.

If your LOI is deemed suitable for the journal, you will be asked to submit a full manuscript by January 15, 2020 for peer review.  Authors whose LOIs are not selected for review are encouraged to submit in JPRM's regular review process.

If you have questions about the LOI process or JPRM in general, please contact neyersa@mail.uc.edu
