Dr. Tess Bird is a medical social scientist and research affiliate at the University of Oxford. Her research examines how people navigate transition and live with uncertainty. She has expertise in the fields of nutritional anthropology, biocultural approaches to obesity, scientific integrity, and the corporate manufacture of uncertainty. She was a Mellon Fellow in Writing in the Social Sciences at Wesleyan University (2018-2020), and has worked as a medical-legal researcher in occupational and consumer health, and as a freelance editor and writing coach.
