About Me

Hello,
My name is Angelica Fikes, I am an Educator and a Historian with a focus on American Presidential History, the American Civil War, World War II, and American Military History.  My passion for history goes way back into my childhood as a little girl who read my copy of the child version of You Didn't Know Much About the Presidents so much that it fell apart.  I followed that love for academia by studying history and Gulf Park Campus of the University of Southern Mississippi.  With a BA in my favorite subject  I went on to complete graduate credits in World War II Studies through Arizona State University online.
During my studies at university I presented a few research papers at academic symposiums.
The first being my 300 research paper on the Battle of New Orleans,  which was presented at the Undergraduate Symposium for Research and Creativity.  The Second being my personal research into the Battles of Chattanooga, Cause and Effect: How Chickamauga Created the Spectacle of Missionary Ridge, which was presented virtually at the Richard Macksey Symposium through John Hopkins University, and published in the 2021 edition of the Macksey Journal.  Additionally, my latest presentation was my 400 paper on Confederate Medical Care during the Siege of Vicksburg, virtually at the Virginia Humanities Conference.
Along with my passion for the study of eras gone by, I have a love of learning.  Currently I am pursuing a career path in the teaching aspect of education.  Such as giving online classes through Fluent World, a new learning platform.  Searching for that joyous moment when the student finally comprehends the concept of the educational material.  Unfortunately, due to issues with my undergraduate schedule, I do not currently hold a teacher's license, and will have to work out my position in education the hard way.  Nevertheless, I have an upbeat attitude and the willingness to put my heart and soul into education.
