Dear Authors and Scholars,
The Georgia State University Law Review is now accepting submissions for Volume 43’s Symposium Issue, scheduled for publication in Spring 2027. In honor of Georgia constitution's 250 year anniversary, this year’s theme is “Georgia at 250: The Past, Present, and Future of State Constitutional Law.”
We invite abstracts that explore a wide range of topics covering state constitutions, including but not limited to:
- Interpreting and navigating the contours of the Georgia Constitution
- The historical evolution of the Georgia Constitution
- The influence of the Georgia Constitution and other state constitutions on constitutional law nationwide
- Areas in which the Georgia Constitution has anticipated or expanded upon protections later recognized under the U.S. Constitution
- The relationship between state constitutions and the rights, liberties, and protections afforded to state residents
Abstracts are due by August 14, 2026. Submissions should be around 250-750 words. At this time, we are not accepting student note submissions.
If your abstract is chosen to be part of the issue, the following deadlines apply:
- Abstracts due Friday, August 14, 2026
- Publication offers issued by Friday, September 18, 2026
- Progress check-in the week of Monday, October 26, 2026 (Zoom/Teams/phone call)
- Final submission due Monday, December 1, 2026
The recommended length of our symposium articles is 4,000 to 10,000 words (including footnotes). This length is significantly shorter than typical articles.
The in-person symposium will be at Georgia State University College of Law on Friday, February 5, 2027. Authors are not required to attend the symposium; however, it is highly recommended and we would love to have you be part of one of our speaker panels.
Please submit your abstract via email to: symposiumeditor@gsu.edu
We look forward to reading your work!
