The North Carolina Journal of Law & Technology is pleased to announce that we are seeking participants for our 2027 Symposium, which will focus on Data Privacy Law. Selected authors will be published in Volume 28, Issue 3 (expected April 2027) and will be expected to present a short synopsis of their research at the annual symposium, to be held on Friday, February 19th, 2027, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Please reach out with any questions to kalebton@unc.edu. We look forward to reading your submissions!” 

Data Privacy is an intentionally broad topic but may include, but not limited to topical subjects such as:

1. the selling of user data and potential penalties on such data brokers for violations of privacy

2. the use of private data for commercial purposes such as algorithmic pricing

3. the expectation of privacy in public spaces

4. a user’s rights to control their own personal data or social media data

5. the protections of private data when inputted into artificial intelligence systems


Deadline for Submissions (tentative): September 7th, 2026

Symposium Date: February 19th, 2027
