The Loyola Maritime Law Journal is still accepting submissions for publication in Volume 26 (2026–2027).
The Loyola Maritime Law Journal is a student-edited scholarly publication of Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and one of the only journals in the country dedicated to maritime law. Based in New Orleans and connected to the Fifth Circuit, a leading jurisdiction for maritime and admiralty matters, the Journal provides a unique forum for scholarship that speaks to the legal issues shaping maritime practice, transportation, and international commerce.
The Journal has been cited in approximately 20 court opinions, 55 briefs, motions, or other court-filed documents, and 264 secondary sources. These citations reflect the Journal’s credibility and usefulness to judges, practitioners, academics, and students. For authors, publishing with the Journal offers the opportunity to contribute to scholarship that is not only read, but also relied upon in the development and practice of maritime law.
The Journal publishes original content on current legal issues in maritime, aviation, and space law. We invite the submission of content of all types (e.g., Articles, Essays, Comments, Notes, etc.) from practicing lawyers, judges, and academics for publication.
While we consider submissions of all lengths, most of our published pieces run between fifteen (15) and thirty-five (35) pages. The Journal welcomes scholarship that connects legal doctrine with real-world practice and contributes meaningfully to the broader legal community.
Submissions should be in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx). The Journal uses footnote citations, and all citations should conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (22nd ed.). All statements of law or fact should be footnoted. Opinions of the author need not be cited.
How to Submit:
Please submit manuscripts electronically via Scholastica or by email to maritimejournal@loyno.edu.
Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis, but early submission is encouraged for full consideration in Volume 26.
For questions or additional information, please contact the Editorial Board at maritimejournal@loyno.edu.
We look forward to reviewing your work and to continuing the Journal’s mission of advancing thoughtful and practical scholarship in maritime, aviation, space, and related areas of law.
