Former Reader in 'Ethics, Leadership and Human Rights' in the National Police Leadership Faculty, the UK Police College. The College no longer exists. However, the decades of learning that took place in the context of the College from 1961 to 2015 remain under-reported.
On a personal level I have come to think that police training and education requires a) a greater emphasis on the theory and practice of humanistic psychology along with its related developments - and, b) the imaginative use of literature (of many types) in order to extend the discourses through which the police might 'see' the world and appreciate their place in it.
