The Hofstra Law Review invites article submissions for its Volume 55 Symposium Issue on challenges to prosecutorial independence. We invite the submission of scholarly articles on topics pertaining to challenges to prosecutorial independence including, but not limited to, politics and prosecution (the influence of electoral incentives, partisan pressure, and political actors on charging decisions and prosecutorial priorities), the DOJ and the Grand Jury (concerns over the DOJ's use of the grand jury process, including the questions of prosecutorial overreach and grand jury independence), and the unitary executive theory (the implications of the unitary executive theory for prosecutorial independence, including presidential removal power, DOJ leadership structure, and executive control over charging decisions).

Articles will be accepted on a rolling basis until the issue is filled. Please submit your article as a Word Document to rsakol2@pride.hofstra.edu and areynolds4@pride.hofstra.edu with the subject line "Volume 55 Symposium Submission". If accepted, we require an editable draft by December 31, 2026.

The symposium will include three panels and a keynote address and will be held in-person at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, on Friday April 2nd, 2027. Hofstra Law Review will reimburse all reasonable symposium travel and lodging expenses associated with participation. Interest in being a speaker should be noted and will be favorably considered when selecting articles.
