The Louisiana Law Review is pleased to announce that submissions are now open for consideration in our first issue of Volume 87, to be published in Fall 2026. Since 1938, the Louisiana Law Review has served as Louisiana’s flagship legal journal and a leading forum for scholarship. The Louisiana Law Review currently ranks among the top 200 student–edited law journals, and contributors are recognized worldwide for advancing dialogue across both civil and common law traditions.

For Volume 87, we invite submissions addressing emerging constitutional issues under the theme: “Crisis Governance and Constitutional Drift: Responding to Crises Before Considering Limits.” We welcome essays and articles examining laws and policies enacted to address emerging problems––often with constitutional compliance considered only after the fact. Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to:
  • Statutes and executive actions responding to perceived crises that raise novel questions under the United States Constitution.
  • Economic and regulatory interventions––such as aggressive land-use controls, climate initiatives, or housing and infrastructure policies–with under-theorized implications for the Takings Clause and economic liberties.
  • Laws, ordinances, or policing policies addressing protest and public order where First, Fourth, and Fourteenth Amendment limits on force and arrests are litigated only after large-scale implementation.

Submission Guidelines
The Louisiana Law Review welcomes manuscripts from legal scholars and practitioners. Submissions must be original and unpublished. Authors should strive to follow The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation and Bryan Garner’s The Redbook: A Manual on Legal Style
Although we prefer manuscripts under 25,000 words (including footnotes), longer works may be considered under exceptional circumstances. The Louisiana Law Review does not accept student-authored submissions.

Submission Deadline
Please submit your manuscript and curriculum vitae via Scholastica or email to Joshua.Morris@lsu.eduJulia.Bankard@lsu.edu, and lawrevsubs@lsu.edu by April 24, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Central Time. Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Following the review process, publication offers will be communicated via email.

We look forward to reviewing your scholarship.
